Pickin' and grinnin'....

because this is what I got off this morning.

This is the very last of the raspberries...got 5 this morning and have picked the bushes clean. The tomatoes are beautiful...a very nice size and so far the critters have not invaded. We try to pick them before they are completely ripe and bring them inside to finish. It only takes about a day, and I find that they are less apt to be mushy or chomped on by the bugs. It seems to me the blackberries started coming off a little early, but the heat may have something to do with it. This year's vines are beginning to drop their leaves and wither. We have lots of new growth, which is what next year's berries will be on.

Our zucchini has been very disappointing - we think they got too much heavy rain starting out...some of them are rotting on the plants. If they don't pick up by the weekend we will pull the plants up and replant with late tomatoes.

Gosh...it's been a long time since I planned a meal around home grown sliced tomatoes - fried chicken might be good, but I'm sure Hubby will have a suggestion.

Happy farming!
