Madame Clutz...

was pulling off a paper towel last night and nearly broke her finger. I jerked it too hard and hit the wall. My daughter and I have a running joke about getting bruised just walking down the hall. Guess she got my gift of spastic limbs.

My injury came right in the middle of making hamburger steak but I managed to finish.

Mix chopped onion and green pepper in with your ground beef. Season with Worcestershire sauce, pepper, salt and garlic. Shape into large patties.

Place in a hot skillet to brown. Turn and cover the skillet.

Turn down the heat and let the meat steam.

When meat has steamed through, remove the lid and drain the liquid from the pan. Add a sliced onion and sliced fresh mushrooms. Cover the skillet and continue to cook.

When the veggies have wilted, add a package of brown gravy mix made to package directions. Pour over the patties.

Let this cook, stirring occasionally until gravy has thickened and onions and mushrooms are done.

The result...juicy hamburber steaks with plenty of gravy for mashed potatoes. Very tasty and inexpensive. This makes enough that we can have leftovers for lunch or another supper.
I like to take the leftovers and heat them up...microwave is fine or you can do it stove top. Break up the remaining patties into chunks and spoon mixture over toasted bread. If you have leftover mashed potatoes it makes a pretty good hot beef sandwich.

Daughter sent us some fudge she made...it was full of dried fruit - kind of like a Chunky bar. Pretty dang good I thought.  Sometimes she adds a little ground cayenne pepper to her fudge and it is really tasty. You get a little afterburn - not much - just enough to kick it up a little.

As you can see, losing weight was NOT one of my New Year's resolutions! Have a great day!
